Why is an RC3 security door so important?
The so-called resistance classes (RC – Resistance Class, formerly WK) define the degree of protection of doors and windows against break-in attempts in accordance with EN 1627.
Overview of resistance classes
- RC1N
Low protection. Resistance to physical force such as kicking or shoulder ramming – without the use of tools. - RC2N / RC2
Protection against opportunistic burglars using simple tools such as screwdrivers or pliers.
(RC2N without tested glazing, RC2 with burglar-resistant glazing) - RC3
Increased protection against targeted break-in attempts with advanced tools, e.g., additional screwdrivers and small crowbars. - RC4–RC6
Very high to maximum protection against heavy tools – mainly for commercial, industrial, and high-security areas.
RC3 – the ideal standard for apartment doors
RC3 is considered a proven and sensible security standard for apartment doors. This resistance class offers effective protection against targeted break-in attempts and provides at least 5 minutes of tested resistance.
In practice, this is usually enough time to deter perpetrators – many break-in attempts are abandoned after a short time.
Special feature: Clean installation without dirt or additional trades
Our security doors are installed directly onto the existing door frame. For you, this means:
- No time-consuming removal of the existing frame
- No additional plasterer or painter required
- Clean and quick installation without a large construction site in your home
The existing frame is professionally encased in a sturdy metal frame, into which the new security door is hinged. This gives you maximum burglary protection without long renovation times or dirt.
